Meet the Willard Quinn team
Kevin Quinn is a registered patent attorney and co-founder of Willard Quinn. He counsels clients in a variety of areas of intellectual property law, providing strategic guidance in securing and enforcing IP rights and in navigating the rights of his clients’ competitors.
His experience includes drafting and prosecuting hundreds of patent applications, performing clearance and risk assessments, and leading enforcement efforts that have resulted in favorable settlements for his clients.
Kevin’s clientele includes leading manufacturers in the domestic appliance sector, multinational automotive and industrial technology companies, and well-known consumer product brands. Drawing on this diverse industry experience, he tailors practical, results-driven IP strategies that align with each client’s business objectives.
Before starting Willard Quinn, Kevin built a robust practice serving clients from emerging start-ups to Fortune 500 companies, gaining experience across both domestic and international intellectual property matters.
In addition to his client work, he is committed to mentoring the next generation of IP professionals through an externship program he co-leads, which has provided hands-on training to more than 15 aspiring attorneys.
Kevin earned his law degree from Michigan State University College of Law and holds a degree in Applied Engineering Sciences from Michigan State University’s College of Engineering. Kevin is a husband to his wonderful wife, Leah, and father to his two girls. He enjoys hunting, fishing, agonizing over Michigan State sports, and teaching 9th- and 10th-grade Sunday School. He also enjoys playing Magic: The Gathering but prefers not to lead with that.
Mark is a registered patent attorney and co-founder of Willard Quinn. He specializes in patent and trademark procurement, freedom-to-operate guidance, IP portfolio management, and monetization.
Mark advises clients that innovate in a variety of technology areas, including electrical power control, digital communication systems, sporting goods, home appliances, and automotive components.
Mark has also devoted significant time to collaborating with law schools across the country to mentor law students through an experiential learning program he co-manages.
Prior to his career as an attorney, Mark worked as an electrical controls engineer, designing and commissioning automated manufacturing and assembly systems. This hands-on technical background enables him to quickly understand complex inventions and work closely with inventors to secure meaningful, broad patent protection.
Mark earned his B.S.E. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Calvin College and is admitted to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and the State Bar of Michigan.
Outside the office, Mark and his wife, Janae, enjoy raising their five children. Mark spends his free time being the world’s best dad, playing basketball, fishing, and challenging friends and family to a game of chess — always ready for a good contest.
